A Day for the Girls

Me, my twin, my mom, and my aunt (my mom’s sister) have quite an incredible bond. If my aunt and mom’s relationship was anything like my sisters and mine it could be complicated just as any sister relationship can be, but as me and my twin have grown up, we have come to the realization a sister’s bond is like no other and I know my sister will and is always there for me no matter the distance and differences.
Over our lives the four of us have made time for one another and spent days, weekends, trips with each other laughing and joking, playing games, eating out, and so much more. To this day we still try and do this despite how so much has changed.
At the end of last month, we had a “Girls Day” one Saturday. No, we did not have to get out and get into any trouble, but we did get crazy and just stayed indoors on this rainy cold day making treats, attempting facials, painting nails, played fun games such as with the VR and our favorite, Scattergories.
Now to start off my aunt cannot eat or drink anything, so she had to suffer through watching us take in all these goods, but me my sister and my mom did make sure to eat enough for her as well. 😉 We had chocolate covered strawberries, grapes, a bacon ranch cheeseball with crackers, spinach artichoke pinwheels, pizza bites, ham & turkey pinwheels, homemade peach tea & strawberry lemonade, Non-Alcoholic Strawberry Daiquiris, Shirley Temples, & Tortugas. The mocktails were so pretty you would have never known there was no alcohol in them. 😁
While the treats were a great part, we also enjoyed our competitive word game, interacting with the VR to take a trip visiting Hawaii and watching home scary made videos while my sis attempted a Walking Dead playthrough, and the Mani Pedi time with facial masks and soothing messaging plastic sock covers.
To represent the day, us, our time, and memories afterwards my mom had shirts made for us. We all grew up watching the Golden Girls and for so long now we refer to us four as the golden girls. It is quite crazy how each of them represents one of us almost perfectly.
Here we are sporting our “Golden Girls” shirts. Dress like Blanche (my sister), Speak like Sophia (my mom), Live like Rose (me), & Think like Dorothy (my aunt). If you know the Golden Girls, you will understand their connecting quotes. 😊
A Saturday full of a well-deserved girls day filled with anything anyone could enjoy at times especially us ladies.
Now who else would like a Saturday like this with your golden gals?
