A Year of Recaps

A New Year brings about new possibilities and changes.

The “new” the year 2021 brought in was (1) trying new coffee flavorings (2) new recipes of the sort (3) going into a small newspaper business with an aunt (4) starting college for a master’s degree and counseling license online (5) announcing my blog and book to everyone (6) attended a Dallas Cowboys game, a Halloween Pumpkin Park, and an air show and (7) lastly to mention it snowed in our hometown.

1. Recently I asked others what they like in their coffee with this I then had a coffee tasting day where I tried all these new suggestions. On my Coffee & Story Time Facebook page you can see what I tasted and my reactions. Out of the 7 on this day my favorite was coffee and butterscotch candies and coffee with hot chocolate. Also I have tried coffee and coke this year in which I made a blog special for it and its unique taste: https://www.coffeestorytime.com/post/coffee-mixtures.

2. Me and my husband love trying new recipes. If we see something that sounds good or hear of something that may be good we explore and look for a recipe and cook it up. If we do not have the exact ingredients we use what we have and sometimes it tastes awesome while others time it comes out funny. This year just a few of the things we tried is Olive Gardens Chicken and Gnocchi picture recipe and Christmas Trash Picture. We love soup items especially for the winter and I love the soups from Olive Garden and this one was not to hard to make and turned out quite well. Now Christmas trash one of my aunts has made it and I do not remember ever trying it nor its taste if I have but I was unaware of the name until speaking with her and other family members about it and so with her recipe given to me we tried this as well to share and see how it would turn out. Also earlier in the year we attempted sausage bread, homemade pretzels, and banana bread, a whole day dedicated to baking them goods: https://www.coffeestorytime.com/post/baked-goods. To add I mentioned we watch all the Harry Potter movies in December before Christmas arrives, this year to go along with the movies we decided to make our own Butterbeer, a Harry Potter special drink. It consists of butter and caramel extract, butterscotch, crème soda, and heavy crème. It was sweet but tasty and even looks festive.

3. As previously mentioned in a blog, “The Sunday Paper”, me and my aunt decided to start up a small-town newspaper. It has been eventful and something I have enjoyed doing. With the dedicated and sophisticated mind of my aunt and out creativity together each month we have been sending out a paper for community members to enjoy. Although we each have our own thoughts on how it should be done and such we still come together and get it done just in time!

4. Also mentioned before in a few blogs (“Back to school...again”, “Summer Classes”,“Mock Sessions”) I started a new online program to work towards becoming a licensed Marriage Family counselor. It has been very insightful, resourceful, and enlightening. I have learned much within just a short amount of time so far I just need to stay on top of what I am learning and keep it with me as the program continues further.

5. I had published my book and blog last year but did not let everyone I know and make public until this year which took some courage due to being worried about comments and other thoughts and reactions and it not doing well. But I just had to remember that is not why I created all this nor started it all to begin with. A post about this can be found at: “About the Author” and details on my books so far found here: https://www.coffeestorytime.com/post/the-story-of-x-mitch.

6. With Halloween being my favorite holiday we were able to celebrate it by going to a different form of Halloween park and try Witches Brew hot chocolate which was very neat and we also walked through a pumpkin set up maze and just had fun with it

The Dallas Cowboys was a gift to our stepdad and a very awesome experience in which you can read about it here: https://www.coffeestorytime.com/post/dallas-cowboys and the air show was mentioned in a blog here: https://www.coffeestorytime.com/post/saturday-plans.

7. Snow does not happen here and if it does it is not very much and so one day in February of this year “It Happened” and it was an incredible site for this small town and not only did my husband and I enjoy it like big kids but my fur babies did to. They froze but loved running and jumping through the thick blankets of snow and carry around huge icicles that fell from the porch roof.

After the events of this year,

I am ready to see what NEW the year 2022 brings in,

how about you?
