A Post Full of October Fun!

Before we get into this October filled blog just prepare yourself because this post is a long one! Probably because I have been looking forward to this month this year around for a long time. Many spooky things have happened and with it just being fall with cooler weather finally making its way here has made it even better!

To start things off some steps began before October even made its way here so to begin me and my sister like to do big things for our birthday even if that means us setting it up and getting it ready for all those attending to enjoy and this year around we turned 30. We liked the idea of a death to our twenties party while also hosting a murder mystery. With this, it required looking at play throughs and setting a scene and after a variety of options we landed on a Haunted Hotel Murder Mystery. Once this was chosen we decided to get things in order such as formal invites a month ahead, decorations lined up that would be needed, and a plan.

After all was said it done once October made its way around immediately decorating occurred. Because it is October and Halloween is at the end of the month for me decorating happens as soon as possible because it could represent the holiday as well as our birthday party. It was pretty neat to decorate more then I ever had before and see how the home could transfer to a comfy yet spooky atmosphere.

My favorite thing I was able to do this month was to decorate while listening to a spooky playlist by Jazz Hope Café or just have an ambience of spooky tunes with autumn scenes and scary pumpkins play along a television screen. It was refreshing and just what I needed to keep my mind busy.

Now we are finally at the time of the main event which was coming up quickly and my sister was back in town to help with final touches and put the whole game together! I’d say it was rather neat, maybe not perfect, but definitely a cool experience. It was surprising how many got into their fake characters so well. Despite the fact there were bumps along the road such as killing off the wrong character, that was okay, because it still made the story funny to fall into. These small incidences were hard to bypass because me and my sister wanted to truly be a part of the game as well so we did not even know much of the ending nor each characters true colors were and because of this made it hard to create the story from start to finish and play along to get it right. I will say a lot of it was really shocking considering most of the players were either workers or residents of the hotel and all had shady killer past and the least expecting one was the one that did the murdering this time around.

To go along with this killer theme of a death to our 20s me and my sister had a photo shoot that was very fun! We could do nothing but laugh the whole time but still got some pretty cool shots. Pictures of us as witches and darkened to burying the dead twenties that may have been murder by a chainsaw. But anyways we had a blast with it!

To continue with October, me and my husband like to carve pumpkins each year. Well, this year we chose to carve styrofoam pumpkins to keep for the years to come and not only this but enjoyed it while carving them with two of our nieces. They seem to have a blast too and did a very well job. The oldest created a witch while the youngest created a scarecrow. After this was done our nieces were taste testers and tried the spooky drinks we had plans for creating for the birthday. These were called Drac Blood, Monster Eyes, Skull Potion, and Witches Brew. Most consisted of a type of juice, ice cream, Sherbert, or sprite. We made it extra but letting them sip it from cauldrons or skull cups and even incorporated the vampire teeth and gummy worms crawling out.

To make the day of my birthday even better Goosebumps released a new series that I had been looking forward to on Friday the 13th. Growing up I loved watching the original goosebumps episodes and reading the books and the fact they recreated it was pretty awesome. Looking over the titles of the episodes I recognized them and connected them to the books remembering most of their stories.

The blog is finally coming to a close which brings me to the end where fall is setting, and we are preparing for a new deer season. Getting outside more and even got to go camping again already. My husband built us a new box stand and we have already been receiving some good pictures of the deer coming by that I hope we can see…especially on opening weekend! As far as camping going we enjoyed a few days of family fun and fishing out on the lake. I was able to catch a few big catfish and a bass this time around and it was rather intriguing!

Yes October has definitely had its fun moments and kept us quite busy this year and I am definitely grateful for it yet sad the month and time of year is just falling by too soon.

Overall what about you?

How did you spend your October?

(All this spooky fun and trips of people have worn out the fur babies😁😊)
