Coffee Buddies

Updated: May 11, 2021

Drinking coffee alone in the morning, noon, evening, night; whatever the time of day may be can be relaxing. A time for self reflect. A time to think, but there are other times drinking coffee with others can bring about laughter. A time to reminisce on the past with family, friends.

But drinking coffee with a buddy is also just as great, and my number one drinking buddie are my pets; my furbabies.

They curl up next to me as I am reading a good book or typing up a story sipping down the extraordinary liquid. Keeping themselves warm and rested while I slowly wake up as I dig further into whatever I am doing and continue to empty my coffee cup minute by minute.

Its comforting.

To give you an insight on my cute cuddly coffee buddies; I have 4 dogs and 4 cats. No they do not all live inside my home with me, but they are all my fur babies. I have 2 big dogs outside, Bella a white lab mixed and Hunter a german sheperd, then two small dogs inside, Sugar and Spice terrier mixed sisters. You would not call them by their names correctly when first seeing them. The purely white one is Spice and the brown white mixed one is Sugar. Named opposite of their colors due to their attitudes and personalities. Then my 4 cats who live outside are Leo, Kovu, Mew, and Thor. Unique names you may say? Well they are all named for a specific reason. Leo due to Leo repersenting a Lion in most movies, shows, an astrology sign and to us Leo is the top male of the group, the daddy cat. His kittens are Kovu named after the Lion in Lion King Two (in my opinion one of the better movies of the franchise), Mew named after a special yet quiet secluded rare pokemon (something I have enjoyed and watched since a kid), Thor after the superhero of course (big marvel/dc fan here even though my husband was the one that named this one). We did have a Loki, but he just up and disappeared one day, still hoping for him to return home soon. All 8 of our furpets were strays and have been the best things added to our lives.

Out of all of them Sugar loves coffee. She will continue to stare at me or my coffee cup until I decide to let her have a taste. She knows I will drink it all and then the last few sips are hers. The rest just sniff it or back away. Leo attempts to lick the cup rim here and there to be nosey and Bella considers it a play toy and tries to take the entire cup from me as if we were playing fetch or tug or war.

I would not trade my coffee buddies for anything. They bring so much joy to our lives and it is a good way to spend time with them while getting that coffee in.

Who are your drinking buddies? You may not drink coffee with your pets, but do you have some anyways?

(Is that a face of "Give me your coffee" or not?) 😁
