Coffee Incidents

Just like any other weekly evening before bed I set my coffee pot to go off at 4:50am that way it is ready to go first thing in the morning filling the room with that coffee scent for me to smell before anything else when arriving into my kitchen. Once set I would then usually put the coffee pot back into place grabbing it from the dish drying rack after it was cleaned and set out to dry from that same day morning. Now I can be very forgetful and can get so busy and wrapped up in whatever I am doing I tend to forget a few steps or misplace something. Well last Thursday night all was as it should be or so I thought no need in double checking myself this time before heading to bed for a good night sleep. My husbands alarm went off at 4:20am the next morning and as he is up getting ready I continue to lay in bed slowly waking up on my own until my own alarm goes off 40 min. later at 5a. By this time my husband has gone into the kitchen to prepare his lunch kit with the food I have set aside in containers within the fridge and no sooner the moment I hit snooze he rushes into the room loudly stating,

"There is coffee everywhere"!

I raise slightly in bed making sure I understand him correctly groggily replying,

"What"?

He replies,

"Coffee spilt everywhere".

I now hastily get up and follow him back in the kitchen to the strong smell of the coffee I had set to brew and quickly realize I had forgot to place the pot back to its home spot from the drying rack. The timer went off at 4:50am as scheduled spewing out into nothing. Coffee liquid and coffee grounds had fallen everywhere. The coffee pot sits on top of a coffee bar above all the other items. The coffee had turn into a waterfall around all edges. Soaking fruit below in the fruit bowl, a decoration wood piece, the coffee kcup holder, it had splashed along side the wall behind the pot, and the concrete floor below was darkened and soaked seeping under the wall into the next room. I quickly placed Sugar and Spice outside to keep them from lapping anything up and began to clean. Great way to start a morning at 5am. My husband helped the best he could before having to leave, late at that, by 5:20a. I continued on my own until finally about 6:15a everything was wiped down and dried thoroughly after being washed and set back into its original place on the shelves of the coffee bar. The pot itself having to be broken down and taken apart due to coffee grounds spread throughout. It was the last to be back in place in which I then was able to make me a cup of coffee that I had been waiting for and really needed to prepare me for the mess I had to clean that I had created.

So all in all remember it does not hurt to double check yourselves sometimes, maybe even triple check or quadruple check.

Anyone else have a coffee incident they would like to share?
