Décor Options

I created a post a few months ago called "Non-coffee Drinker" this post was about using coffee cups as decorative center pieces to bring a room together.

Now if you are not like me and do not have a variety collection of coffee mugs that is fine!

I want to let you know there are several items and things you can use besides coffee mugs as creative decoration pieces.

To start off: Mason Jars

Mason jars seem to be the best and number one thing to run to for creativity idea pieces. I even have a book on 100 creative ideas on using mason jars.

Mason jars play a big part in my creativity. As you can see above we used several for mine and my husband's wedding. I used them as a party favors and recently as game pieces for someone else's "Get to know you" wedding party for the "M&M" game. They come in all shapes and sizes and can be filled with all kinds of things to match whatever theme you are trying to set and go well with any environment. Glass bottles work as well making it easier to tie things around them such as the 3rd picture above letting the rope knot hang nicely at the rim keeping the cloth in place.

Included in the center pieces picture is candle jars. I go through several candles leaving my home in a mixed array of different scents and once I have burned one completely instead of tossing it out I clean out the left over wax and remove all labels leaving a clean clear glass to be used once more.

The three pictures above all show once used candle jars as well that now serve as flower vases, beach themed bathroom shell candle containers, and jars wrapped in outdoor picked up twigs for fake flowers to shine.

Another item that is normally used as one thing can be painted and created as something else entirely.

Planting pots.

Planting pots are designing pieces themselves when you place a pretty flower in them or just hanging ivy, but if you are like me and do not have that green thumb they can be used as other things.

Paint whatever you like on them to bring about a new interesting thing to look at and bring life to it itself not by just planting life in it. From a gushing waterfall to a home for a non living flower that cannot die surrounded by wild life (because if you cannot tell in the second picture there are deer painted on it) to once again another beach themed candle holder.

Whatever you possess and obtain can probably be used as something different entirely then what its original purpose was suppose to be.

It can be different and unique and all you have to do is use your creative skills to figure it out!

Just take a few minutes and look around yourself.

Now tell me, what surrounds you right not that can be changed and used differently then what it looks like right now and being used as of right now?

Will you try out those creativity skills, hidden or not, and create something new out of it?
