Keep Calm & Eat Crawfish

This past weekend I had the luxury of eating some good home boiled crawfish.

Crawfish boils are a regular get together meal we enjoy and eat while visiting and catching up. We make crawfish boils celebrations of all kinds; birthdays, graduations, life in general. For mine and my sisters high school graduation we had a crawfish boil party with friends and family gathered and then for our 21st birthday we went to the Mudbug Festival in Louisiana to celebrate.

My stepdad has a big boiler he uses often and each new time boiling crawfish he adds more and more to spice it up and create more to satisfy taste buds. This past weekend he added sausage links big and small, corn, potatoes, mushrooms, and the new additions were shrimp and crab. The crab was not bad. I do not remember the last time I had crab and it mixed with the taste of crawfish flavoring made it great. The shrimp was for my sis, she loves shrimp, I was not to fond of it. My favorite part besides the crawfish was the potatoes until my stepdad added the small sausages one time then they became my favorite and what I look forward to each time mom tells us its Crawfish Time!

As a gift last year me and my sister found a crawfish table online and knew this would be a perfect gift for our stepdad. We were able to use it as a whole over the weekend and my mom and them used it the weekend before and it works out well. It has four large compartments to hold all the food with drink slots, paper towel holders, and sauce spots. Then in the middle is a huge hollowed out hole because you place the table top over a gallon sized trash can. This way you sit and eat from your own small trayed compartment and toss the crawfish shells into the trash can in the middle. Much more convenient, cleaner, and able to still see one another and visit more comfortably.

So, who else here loves a good crawfish boil?

If crawfish is not what your family get togethers involve then what food choices do you pick?
