Read Between the Lines

For some reason this statement stood out to me when I looked over it one day and I realized it is some type of skill one needs to be a counselor. I am working on this daily in life and did not even realize it until researching this play on words.

When exploring this statement, it means to find the meaning that is hidden or implied within a statement rather than being stated, if someone can read between the lines, that means you can understand what someone really means, or what is really happening even if it is not stated nor mentioned. Being good listeners helps with this.

I will admit I am bad at times at assuming I know what someone it is thinking and feeling and go off that from what they are showing or making apparent instead of trying to dig deeper to figure out what is really going on. But then there are times I do try and say well they did this or said this because of something else and not because of me or what I did or what was going on in sight. Realizing quick to judge or assume when really, I need to take a moment, step back, and see to say to myself, “this could be why they said this or why they are acting like this”, and not because of my original thought and judgement.

Do you think you need to read between the lines more?
