Reflections

As a new year starts this has created some time for me to reflect over what has happened this past 2022 year and look forward to what is coming in 2023. Thinking of this came to mind of a cardinal I once knew. Where me and my husband once lived a red bird would continue to land on our side car mirrors and fight with its reflection within the mirror. This would happen every so often for a few months then stop then start back. Well, because of this the bird continued to poop all over the doors and windows. To stop this my husband tied a handheld mirror within the branches of a nearby tree. Suddenly the bird would go there to fight with itself. I was told this is done because they see the reflection as a threat, like another male bird moving in. In a sense sometimes we fight with our own reflections of who we are or who we are becoming, but that does not mean this always has to happen or be the occasion. We can also finally come to the time where we like what we see, like where we are, understand the process, and be thankful for the journey.

As most people I would think we all have those moments of doubts. Questions and wonders of who we are and why we are doing what we are doing. We see these negative things and may be the bad we could be doing and do not like what we see. These reflections can continue to cause pain and regret of passing days, but that does not mean it will always be that way. We can grow, we can learn, we can become better, become who we want to be and who we were meant to be.

With this, one year has come to its end leading to another one beginning. As this year starts I hope moving forward with Coffee & Story Time becomes a priority for me! I started podcasting in 2022 and yes slacked off a little due to minimal interest but not stopping it all together and hope soon it will be back with much more involvement and longer sessions. I have been practicing coffee things such as candle making and thermos making. It is taking time, but I will get there hoping to soon create my own things to sell under Coffee & Story Time. Maybe even other items such as hats. Book three has finally hit amazon and my first books are currently being transformed into audio books by me! This has been a long process to learn how to read in other voices and create a story from just words, but it has actually been fun trying. (And yes aggravating when I have to restart after a mess up or two). Of course if this does not work out I plan to go a different course, but I did have others tell me they like my voice on the podcast so let’s see how audio books go. I am also turning my books and podcast into short YouTube video sessions and can hope to become a video podcaster. I have started on my fourth book but considering how long the last took to be published who knows when this will be done! This new book is not sci fi but maybe still adventurous and different. Now these things take time and with these goals comes other considerations meaning my blogs may go from two times a month to one time a month, podcast episodes go from two a month to one a month or even one every other month. This is to fit in other aspects such as the new counseling internship I have started to further my career and the crisis counseling volunteer position I have chosen to help in experience and others. Also, I feel I have been neglecting the newspaper and for this want to make more time to try and fit in those extra activities and events to obtain my own pictures and be able to report on.

There is so much I want to do, hope for, striving for, but I have learned it does not all need to be done now. My patience is growing and understanding that these things can be 1, 3, 5, or even 7-year goals. I have time and there is no need to rush it nor the years and take each day at a time.

I used to have a poor view from the reflection I saw within myself but as I grow and as time goes by it betters and betters with each new look. I like what I see and do not let what others see effect my opinion.

So tell me, what is your yearly reflection viewed as and how has it transformed?
