Now we are all aware of how I love a good movie or tv show considering how many blogs I have previously wrote mentioning this exact fact. But this blog is about the movie theater showing experience itself.
With the pandemic and many other factors such as living location now and financial considerations it took some time before going to see a movie in a theater again and it was tough considering how often I used to go to one. I had missed that initial walk through the doors smelling the fresh popcorn that was just popped or just hearing that sound of the corn popping within their machines. Then after seating being able to eat it and mixing the sweet chocolate taste with that saltiness followed by the sizzling taste of a fountain drink wrapping it all up. All my fav look too’s at a theater.
Streaming movies has made it all easier and more convenient during this time which is sad but good. One random fact about the theater was I used to love the opening of the movie that was the clear white screen that fills with popcorn then drops to be filled with ice then coke then a straw to sip it (Coke Carmike Cinemas Opening). I do not know why but I enjoyed this part, and I would mumble the word “AH” right along with it when the drink disappeared. You cannot get that on a streaming ap, nor upcoming movie trailers. Fortunatly enough small popcorn machines can help in that area a bit, but it still does not taste the same😉.
Mid of last year my family and I had a theater to our own group, a screened-out rental. It was cool knowing everyone in the movie showing and all us being able to enjoy this together. Years ago me and my husband used to go to the late showings of movies after work. When we did this half the time no one else was there to watch the movie. We could then talk as loud as we wanted and swap seats whenever we felt like it. Just like watching a movie at home but on a big screen in a huge room.
Moving on, it would have been neat to be in the era of outdoor theaters. I can only imagine. I once watched a double feature of outdoor movies, and it was pretty incredible. Sitting in the comfort of our own vehicle or in the back of a truck listening through the stereo. If it’s cool getting hot chocolate and out in the refreshing air not confined to a four walled room. Recently my aunt put on an outdoor movie showing right under her carport. Now this was neat. A big screen while we all sat around in the chilly night. We made our own popcorn and hot chocolate and had a variety of candy options. Not only this but shortly afterwards the grill in town started having special weekend showings that were of the similar set up.
I am surprised outdoor movie theater have not made a comeback with social distancing. I honestly would love to one day own an outdoor theater and coffee shop alongside it. Who would want that? Drink some coffee to keep you awake during a late-night movie?
Maybe we are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream, which is what Les Brown says. So may be this is just something else to add to that life outlook goal plan.
Tell me, what is your movie experience like?
