That Spooky Time of Year

It is that great time of year again and I could not be happier. Not only is it that time for the fall season (my favorite season) but with fall coming it brings in my favorite holiday (Halloween).

I may get spooked easily and stray form haunted houses just because I would be the one with eyes closed rushing through, but I still love this SPOOKY TIME OF YEAR.

I think a lot has to do with the fact of growing up on scary movies from the love of them by mom and then with me and my sister’s birthday being this time of month and landing on Friday the 13th often it just all tends to tie together. We have had many costume birthday parties and continue to have them making them scarier and more intriguing as we grow older.

One event as a kid I was never able to do, that I thought would be awesome, was to be able to live in a neighborhood where the homes are side by side and us kids could walk down the sidewalk and truly trick or treat. Places I have lived at do not have this or do that. Most of the time we would have to drive from home to home and travel a distance, but I would watch on movies how kids had fun trick or treating this other way and be sad I could not. Of course though, in these movies is where all the scary stuff would come in to play and I would not want that. It is still something that would have been neat to me to experience as a kid though.

But just knowing this holiday is around the corner I started in September rewatching scary movies every chance I get leading up to it my favorites as Halloween draws closer. I tend to decorate my home and the yard to go with the thrill and fun of it for others to enjoy as they drive by or come visit. This year it was a week or two before October was even here and my mom was shocked I had not put those scary decorations up yet. So of course the following weekend I had to and sent her pictures to prove I did.

This year my aunt is putting on a Halloween tour contest for all the community to get involved and decorate their homes for others to drive by and judge. Just like how so many make drives out to see decorated Christmas lights now we can do this with Halloween decorations and lights.

I try not to see Halloween in a negative light as many do since it is about hauntings and ghost and things like that, but instead to me it is just another fun holiday to enjoy as a family and to have a good time making memories.

What is your thoughts on Halloween?

I use to take the kids when they were little out to town and pick up my friend and her daughter to go treat or treating! We only went to homes we knew were safe to go to! We had some good times back then! I think it is a good holiday of its own kind as the other holidays! The kids enjoy getting the candy or treats but the people enjoy seeing the children in their costumes!

That sounds great and your right a lot of the fun is seeing the costume ideas and the trick or treating.
