Time for a Good Show: Part One

Going back to previous movie blogs I have a more recent addition to follow along these lines. This time though instead of movies specifically I will be talking about TV shows on streaming services.

To start, me and my husband enjoy finding a show on Netflix or Hulu that has those short episodes with just a season or two. We particularly like searching for baking competitions such as The Great British Baking Show, or house flipping shows like Tiny House Nation or similar to Instant Hotel, but recently a new season released to a competitive series we have grown to like, Blown Away. This series is about a group of glass blowing artist coming in from across the world to compete for a winning title with a cash prize and other benefits. What I found fascinating after one episode is what one can create simply out of glass. The work and process that goes into a project that can shatter at a moment’s instant if not careful. Isn’t this strange how in life the same can happen. Everything is going as planned or so great then at the drop of the hat or a quick call and that all can break or that day and mood shatters. Something so beautiful then it can be destroyed. The thing is these artists continue going. They adjust forming something new to fit the time, or they create something from that brokenness, or they just simply start over creating an exact replica. Something we all do when we encounter obstacles such as this. We learn to grow and adjust from these unexpected moments of change, or we pick ourselves up to continue going on that same path to have the same desired outcome.

Another thing that stuck with me is during this newest season an interesting comment was made by one of the guest judges that there are no winners of winning if you keep doing what you enjoy and love sharing it with others. This connected with me in several areas of my life. In my educational career journey of counseling I have come to learn so much about myself and in helping others. I love it and have quite enjoyed the process and the new things I am seeing and experiencing. It is not just a job or duty to get these assignments done or complete that session, but I look forward to. It also connected to me as an artist in a way of creating these blogs and stories. Hoping to share with others in hopes to create that spark and interest for someone else. To share what I am creating and want to continue to do so despite setbacks of the sorts. Trying to not focus on any personal gain but what I can do to share with others and enjoy doing it without burning out or becoming unhappy. For so long I was unsure what I wanted to be and do in life and slowly but surely I think the pieces are coming together.

Simply put, I wanted to create this new tv/movie blog to just take a brief moment to share my reflection of what I took from these creations.

Now your turn, what did those words mean to you as you read them?
