Time for a Movie: Part Two

Movies, movies, movies

Yes my previous movie blog gets another.

I mentioned in the first part of my movie blog of how movies play a big part in my life with the starting of my first job at a theater and my first movie ever seen was a horror film and why now I like scary movies over most, but I did also mention Mulan was a favorite and decided to make a second post to explain further.

Not only do I love scary movies but right up there at the top would be animated Disney/Pixar ones.

So many of these movies tell a honest relatable story to life, in turn I know actual movies do to, but it just seems more sincere and honest when coming from a cartoon. More innocent I guess you could say, assuming because it is for kids. Some how they always turn into tear jerkers for me and I cannot help but cry at the sad parts and even the good parts. Whether it is a Disney princess finding herself through some sort of journey or a Pixar alien resolving issues within and about their family. They all contain moments and struggles we humans go through everyday. With Mother's Day coming up I figured I would connect this post to it by talking about a specific movie moment.

One summer the theater I worked at was playing the Pixar movie "Brave". I did not know much about this movie except the fact it was about a mother and daughter. Yes I had seen the trailer but that does not help and I was not even able to sneak a few peaks of it on the big screen while working up front behind the snack bar, but in turn still asked my mom to go see it with me on my day off.

(Warning: If you want to now watch this movie spoilers are ahead.)

First off the mother gets turned into a bear due to a wish, spell, curse, whatever you want to call it and strangely enough my moms favorite animal was a bear or at least she has a huge collection of bear figurines and such. Of course the movie was not primarily made for my mom and her love of bears but it was a neat coincidence. The reason for the wish or curse was due to the daughters rebellion against her moms wishes for her life. The daughter wanted one thing while the mother pushed for another causing the daughter to do something extreme to "change their fates". Now my mom has never tried to force me into a role I did not want or did not believe was me, but that does not mean I did not see it like that when I was younger especially when I was a stubborn teen rebelling against everything my mother said. I did tend to push her due to either differences or may be we were to much alike who knows, but that is not how it is today, but it took time and some growing up for me. Just like the film after fighting and arguments it took them both to walk in each other shoes and experience their roles and work together before they could understand one another and come together repairing the "family tapestry", the bond.

I do not know what it is, may be it is a comforting fact that if someone has the brains to think of a movie like this, come up with a story line like this, then that means you are not alone through your struggles. That someone else has experienced the same thing because how else could they have thought of it? And may be with it being animated it still brings joy and life to it because made up characters always seem more cheery and happy once all has played out like it is suppose to.

All in all movies always have some kind of meaning, a meaning some people need to see and hear and watch, and some times it happens right at the appropriate time and helps them feel better.

Do you think the same could be said about movies?

Are you now more interested in watching these types of movies?
