It's Vegas Baby!
In March of 2017 me and my husband took a trip to Vegas and the main reason for going was to see the Backstreet Boys perform in concert. I love Backstreet Boys & NSYNC since listening to them over and over on CD in the car with my mom and sister and when I got the chance to snag a few tickets I took the opportunity!
To start this trip off it was a quick few day weekend trip so instead of driving we decided to fly. This was our first time ever on a plane. It was a bit stressful making our way through the airports and locating terminals but we caught on quickly with advice from family who have navigated airports frequently and the view from the airplane window seats is a site everyone needs to experience at least once. It is neat to see yourself above the clouds you normally only see from below and gliding through them.
But I will admit I still prefer driving over flying, where we can stop and look at whatever we want and explore a bit more instead of just flying over it all passing up everything, but I am grateful I was able to try this anyways.
After we landed we took a bus to our hotel, The Mirage, that ha the Volcano that erupts at night. Personally a great pick with its natural environmental forest atmosphere inside. Towards the end of the strip and calmer or more serene. It was quite nice.
Once checked in besides the main event (the concert of course) we walked through most of the casinos such as; the Luxor (pyramid), Caesars Palace (incredible breakfast there), Circus Circus (saw an acrobat show and played several arcade games winning prizes) on top of going through the Secret Gardens with the Aquarium at The Mirage and watching a Pirate Show outside of Treasure Island.
With all this shopping and sightseeing of experiencing the night life a lot of walking took place, a lot more then needed to due to us getting lost. I am not ashamed of this because if I am being honest me and my husband no matter the trip nor location I can guarantee we will get lost or mess up something. One date my husband took me on when we first started dating was just in the town over in which he works at now and he took a wrong turn taking us to a completely different city causing an hour detour I could laugh and say how is this even possible but not even a month later I did the exact thing when he came to visit me where I was living at the time and I took us to a movie and on the way home turned at the wring stop light sending us to a dead end back road and had to turn around and figure out where I was. Routes we now know by heart, and now looking back have no idea how we could have done that. So our trip to Vegas was no different. We tried to take a bus to the Hoover Dam and in turn took the completely wrong bus ending up several miles off the strip and avoiding getting further away we just hop off and follow GPS on foot back to our hotel. About an hour or two walk. Yes we could have taken a bus back, may be even a taxi or something, but to avoid any further misdirection we just walked back to familiar territory viewing the outskirts many do not see. Lets just say by this time we were ready to be back home and rest our feet, but not before telling you how the Backstreet Boys were!
I cannot tell you how awesome it was to see the Backstreet Boys live. I recorded most songs playing it all back for my mother-in-law once home who would have gone also if given the opportunity. She too loves the boys. Looking around the place there were of course several ladies, old and young, followed by gentlemen whose significant others dragged them along with them just as me with my husband and the couple in front of us where the girl is up singing along and the guy next to her standing around with his hands in his pocket or sitting and waiting for the moment to end. Although people watching was fun once the songs started and the band made their entrance everything else disappeared until the concert was over.
Yes, Las Vegas, Nevada has made lasting memories and photos for the trip books and hopefully there will be a next trip time for the Hoover Dam and other Nevada stops.
Have you been to Nevada or Las Vegas? if so where do you suggest going? and if not would you want to go?
