Snow trudging our way through Colorado!
At this time, I can say vacationing in Colorado has by far been one of my favorite places to go to. Me and my husband took our honeymoon here and during this time it was at the end of fall start of winter which is the low time of tourism for this area. This could be one of the greatest parts, there is less crowds, small lines, although the downfall was places were closed during the off season and hours were cut short meaning many eating places and tourist attractions were closed early or closed altogether. A few times we just got pizza or McDonalds or ate sandwiches. During this time many shop owners were confused of us being out of staters visiting during this time of year, but it was still fun, and we tried and saw a lot.
The views and scenery were unforgettable sites. Estes Park was beautiful, and the Rocky Mountains covered in snow was stunning. Being able to walk through several feet of snow and drive around the town and through the mountains encountering elk around each turn or building was fascinating. During this time, we drove to Denver, and we were able to visit attractions here such as their zoo and aquarium which was quite large and very informative when it came to the historical aspects. We stopped off at several markers and side trails on our way to Estes Park as well. During this time much hiking was involved while most mornings we woke up to turkeys in the front yard of the cabin and elk at the parking lots eating on leftover pumpkins from Halloween.
The best thing was waking up, making a cup of coffee, and drinking it in the reading corner of the room or at the fireplace or at the front window looking out at the small stream that ran by us as the snow lightly fell a few times during this stay.
What is your favorite time or year and part of Colorado?
